Here's a bit more about Mitchell's rise to stardom from Triple J's Unearthed blog:

Mitchell Martin is a young up and coming musician from Bunbury in WA and is a full time professional musician.
He has been performing in multiple bands over the last 4 years, however in the last 2 years he has become a fully-fledged solo artist.
Mitchell is a singer-songwriter finding influence from artists such as Ed Sheeran and James Bay and writes songs which are a mix of pop and folk.
So far Mitchell has released 4 songs independently on an EP which is titled after the last song in the EP ‘I Can’t Stop Singing’.
So far with this EP he has sold over 300 physical copies and had over 100 digital sales.
He has also received the award for the Western Australian Regional Song of the Year run by Pirate 88 FM for his track ‘I Can’t Stop Singing’ and his song ‘Hold On’ has been nominated for the up and coming 2016 West Australian Music Award’s ‘Song of the Year’ in the Folk Category.
Mitchell plays at a huge array of venues and is constantly performing up to 4 times in a weekend at various local and well known venues such as Caves House in Yallingup, The Paddington Ale House in Perth and Settlers Tavern in Margaret River.
He released his next single ‘Broken’ on the 29th of April 2016 and has just put the finishing touches on his second EP which will be released in late July 2016.
He plans to release his debut album independently by the start of 2017 and has the dream to get these songs onto Radio Stations around the country and is hoping they will also be played on Radio Stations around the world.
He then plans to do a regional tour around Western Australia before embarking on a national tour around Australia in 2018/2019.
